Gaby Serres is a Venezuelan-Japanese violinis and the founder of two international chamber music festivals flourishing on two continents: Cameristica Festival, based in Brussels, and Festivando, in Bogotá. Her musical journey began in Venezuela’s El Sistema, where she developed the social and humanistic vision that defines her artistic work.
She holds a degree in Chemical Engineering from the Universidad de Los Andes and a degree in Music from the Royal Conservatory of Mons (Belgium). She also earned a Diploma with Distinction in Music Theory from the Royal Academy of Music (London). With over 26 years of experience as an orchestral violinist, she has developed her career in Venezuela, Mexico, France, Belgium, Spain, and Germany, sharing the stage with renowned artists such as Gustavo Dudamel and Plácido Domingo, among others. She is currently a tutti violinist with the Deutsches Romantisches Orchester (DRO) in Berlin. Her career has also led her to develop and lead festivals, concerts, masterclasses, and musical projects across Europe, Asia, and Latin America.
Her dedication to music education is a fundamental part of her career. She has worked as a violin and chamber music teacher in Venezuela, Italy, Mexico, France, Belgium, Colombia, Panama, and Peru, and as a conductor of children's and youth orchestras in Venezuela, Italy, and Mexico, with a particular focus on providing musical education to underserved communities.
In this field, she has participated in social initiatives such as El Sistema’s Special Education Program (Venezuela), Fondazione La Città Invisibile (Catania, Italy), Proyecto Social Banamex (Guadalajara, Mexico), and the Vareille Foundation (Paris, France), using music education as a tool for inclusion, personal development, and social progress.
